Hi Robert, I'm delighted of being of some usefulness for your reseach. I won't bother with my troubles with PC but, for the moment, I have some problems in handling messages larger than 700k - 1 MB, basically is a problem with my phone line that I'm trying to fix for several months... For that reason I can supply you information only step-by-step. Starting with Boeing Model 322 and 333 I found the drawings (very poor: oddily enough the front view of the Model 322 lacks the fin...) on "Wings" (October 1973 issue). The article dealt with B-29 and spoke generally about development "from B-15 to B-29", but other sources referred that Boeing Model 322 and 333 (with 333A alternate design) were the basis for Boeing's submission to the B-24 contest. I found that on a book or an article about the B-24 development but I exactly don't remember... For the Model 322, design date 1.26.38 (according to the same source) I have the following specs: Crew: six Engines: four P&W R-2180G rated at 1,400 hp at 2,500 rpm for take-off. Dimensions: span 108'7", length 75'5", wing area 1,530 sq. ft. Weights: 40,000 lbs, altenate gross (perhaps MTOW) 53,000 lbs. Performance: max speed 307 mph at 25,000 ft, service ceiling 38,700 ft, range 4.000 sm. Armament: 2,500 lbs bombs, four .50 guns. Model 333, design date 1.26.39 Crew: six Engines: four Allison V-1710FI rated at 1,150 hp at 3,000 rpm (military). Dimensions: span 109', length 80'8", wing area 1,420 sq. ft. Weights: 41,000 lbs, altenate gross (perhaps MTOW) 48,600 lbs. Performance: max speed 307 mph at 15,000 ft, service ceiling 33,200 ft, range 4.220 sm. Armament: 2,000 lbs bombs, five .50 guns, one .30. Model 333A, design date 1.26.39 Crew: six Engines: four Allison V-1710FI rated at 1,400 hp at 2,500 rpm (why rating is different? - Nico) Dimensions: span 108'6", length 80'8", wing area 1,420 sq. ft. Weights: 40,500 lbs, alternate gross (perhaps MTOW) 48,600 lbs. Performance: max speed 328 mph at 15,000 ft, service ceiling 33,200 ft, range 3,000 sm. Armament: 2,000 lbs bombs, five .50 guns, one .30. Next time we'll deal with the Lockheed L-129 Nico
